4 Quadrant Table
The slight rotation of a square determines the geometry of this table. The cherry top is subdivided into four trapezoidal quadrants following the pair of offset bent steel plates that forms the base. To enlarge the table, the two halves open along the axis of rotation and a parallelogram leaf is inserted. With this final operation the table is resolved into a simple rectangular shape.
The thin dimension of the steel bases contrasts with the thickness of the solid cherry. Separation of the top into independent quadrants allows for thermal movement of the wood.
